Houthi attack hits Saudi Jazan refinery as regional tensions rise

Saudi authorities said a fire at the Aramco facility was extinguished without injuries, while separate attacks in Yemen caused civilian deaths.

Yemen's Houthi movement said it carried out a drone attack on Saudi Aramco's Jazan refinery. Saudi authorities said the resulting fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported at the facility.

The Houthis also launched missile and drone attacks on Mocha, a Red Sea port controlled by Yemen's internationally recognised government. Reuters reported that seven civilians were killed there and infrastructure was damaged.

The refinery attack came shortly after Saudi Arabia signed a mutual-defence pact with Turkey and Pakistan. The incident will sharpen attention on energy security and the vulnerability of Red Sea and Gulf infrastructure during the wider regional confrontation.
